Work has resumed on the long-awaited refurbishment of the portico at Lytham Methodist Church, marking a significant step forward in preserving and enhancing one of the town’s valued places of worship.

The project, which focuses on restoring the church’s entrance structure, aims not only to improve the building’s appearance but also to ensure its safety and longevity for future generations. The portico, a key architectural feature, has shown signs of wear over time, making refurbishment both necessary and timely.

This phase of the work has been made possible thanks to a combination of local dedication and external financial support. Members of the church congregation have played a central role, contributing both time and resources to help bring the project to life. Their efforts have been complemented by grant funding from the B & SF Circuit, as well as support from national heritage organisations.

In particular, the church has expressed its gratitude for funding received from The National Churches Trust and the Heritage Fund. These contributions have been instrumental in enabling the refurbishment to move forward, reflecting a shared commitment to preserving historic and community buildings across the country.

Church representatives have highlighted the importance of the project not just for the congregation, but for the wider Lytham community. The building serves as a hub for various local activities and events, and the improved entrance will provide a more welcoming and accessible space for all who visit.

As work continues, there is a sense of optimism that the restored portico will stand as a renewed symbol of the church’s heritage and its ongoing role at the heart of the community.
